Performing Arts

At our school, we believe in the vital role that performing arts play in a child's education. Not only do drama, music, and dance classes provide students with a creative outlet, but they also develop essential skills such as confidence, communication, teamwork, and self-expression. Within our curriculum, students have the opportunity to explore performing arts in various subjects, including drama incorporated into English lessons and composing and performing music in our music classes. Additionally, we offer a range of enrichment opportunities to further develop students' talents and interests, including whole class djembe sessions, drama club activities, and participation in our vibrant school choir. Through these experiences, our students not only develop their artistic abilities but also cultivate important life skills that will benefit them in all areas of their lives.

'Lion King' the musical

Our school drama club recently undertook the exciting challenge of practicing and performing "The Lion King" musical at a local theater. Throughout this experience, students learned a multitude of valuable skills that extended far beyond the stage. From teamwork and collaboration during rehearsals to developing confidence and stage presence during performances, each participant gained invaluable experience. They honed their acting, singing, and dancing abilities while also learning about stagecraft, costume design, and set construction. This unforgettable experience not only showcased their artistic talents but also fostered a sense of camaraderie and accomplishment among the entire cast and crew.

Whalley Cain Dance Festival

Each year, our dance club have the honor of performing in the Whalley Cain Dance Show at the Atkinson Art Theatre. It is always a particularly special event as the children not only perform but also have the opportunity to contribute to the choreography of the dance routine, which is themed around the show. This hands-on experience allows them to develop their creativity and teamwork skills even further. Through their participation in the dance club and this performance, the children not only improve their dance techniques and coordination but also learn important lessons in collaboration, communication, and leadership. Rehearsing and performing in such a prestigious event is a rewarding experience that not only boost the children's confidence but also helps to foster a sense of pride and accomplishment in their abilities.

Young Voices

Our school choir had the incredible opportunity to be part of the Young Voices Choir at the Manchester Arena, an experience they will never forget. Young Voices is the largest children's choir in the world, bringing together thousands of young singers to perform at some of the biggest venues across the UK. As part of this amazing event, our students learned a multitude of valuable skills. They not only improved their vocal abilities but also developed essential life skills such as teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. Rehearsing and performing alongside thousands of other young singers taught them the importance of cooperation, dedication, and hard work. It was a truly unforgettable experience that not only boosted their confidence but also instilled in them a deep sense of pride and accomplishment.

Musical performances

At our school, we provide numerous opportunities for children to showcase their musical talents throughout the year. From our annual Mother's Day Tea Party to our Garden Party, musical performances are always a highlight. During these events, students have the chance to perform both individually and as part of a group, demonstrating their skills in singing, solo violin, and whole-class djembe performances. These experiences not only allow our students to share their love of music with others but also help to build their confidence and stage presence. We believe that music is an essential part of a well-rounded education, and we are proud to offer these opportunities for our students to shine.
