Oracy
As a school, we recognise the importance of children being able to develop skills in Oracy (speaking and listening), and we take part in the Voice 21 programme, with the aim of implementing strategies in order for children to learn through talk as well as the skills needed to talk articulately.
Oracy is embedded within all our lessons as part of our Common Lesson Framework where we 'Articulate our ideas' about our learning. We also plan specific Oracy tasks and plan for Oracy outcomes in subjects such as History.
Each term we have a whole school poetry performance, where we learn and perform a poem using our Oracy skills. The children are taught skills such as how to engage the audience by using volume, pace and gesture when performing.
