St Thomas Parent Teacher Association (PTA) - Helping Hands 
 

Our friendly PTA group is a registered charity and is made up of parent and teacher volunteers who raise funds for the school.

We run various events and raffles throughout the year which we promote via the school newsletter, class Whatsapp groups and our PTA notice board.  We are currently raising funds to buy new learning resources for the children.

In 2021 we raised an amazing £6,000 which bought some fantastic new adventure trail equipment for the infant playground.

Meet the Committee

The PTA committee is run by Paula Westerman (Chair), Katy Reeve (Deputy Chair) , Susi Mattinson (Treasurer) and Helen Millwood (Secretary).

Together with Mrs Alty and a team of volunteer parents, everyone is dedicated to raising funds for our school to benefit our children. 

PTA Meetings

We hold termly meetings at the school to discuss our upcoming events and new fundraising ideas. If you would like to take part in the next meeting, please contact your Class PTA Rep. 

Where is the PTA money spent?

The money raised is used to enhance learning and experiences for the children. The PTA aim to fund things that the local authority funding perhaps can’t stretch to cover.

For example the money raised by the PTA over the last few years has been used to buy new playground equipment, new laptops and Ipads. 

Each September we give £300 to each classroom to spend on extra resources such as new books and games to support the curriculum. 

Wanted - New Members

We welcome new members to join our friendly PTA team. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to join in the meetings or help out at events, suggest fundraising ideas or offer your expertise to our committee.

We’d especially like to hear from people with experience of writing grant applications, graphic design, communications or links with local businesses.
