Vision and Values
Our Mission Statement
'Let your Light Shine' Matthew 5:16
St. Thomas' is a church primary school in the heart of Lydiate. St. Thomas’ is built on a Christian foundation; our vision statement of 'Let your Light Shine' is rooted in the words of Jesus in Matthew 5:16. Our vision expresses our belief that every child is uniquely created and deeply valued. The lighthouse symbol, central to our identity, reminds us that Christ is a constant light and guide. Through our Lighthouse curriculum, we seek to nurture, support and inspire each pupil so they can discover their god-given uniqueness, find their path, and shine brightly through their learning, actions and relationships.
Our Christian Values
At St Thomas’, our six Christian values of Respect, Resilience, Honesty, Unity, Gratitude and Service are at the heart of everything we do. Rooted in our Christian vision, ‘Let Your Light Shine’, these values guide our actions, shape our relationships and inspire us to be the very best versions of ourselves. We encourage our children to show respect for themselves and others, demonstrate resilience when faced with challenges, act with honesty and integrity, celebrate unity and the uniqueness of every individual, express gratitude for the blessings in their lives and embrace opportunities to serve others. Our Christian values are woven throughout our curriculum, collective worship and everyday school life, ensuring they are not simply words we learn, but values we live by. Through living out these values, we empower our children to let their light shine, making a positive difference to our school community and the wider world.

British Values
At St. Thomas Primary School, we are committed to promoting British values and preparing our students to become responsible, respectful, and tolerant citizens of the future. We actively promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance for those with different faiths and beliefs. These values are woven throughout our curriculum and daily school life. Through our curriculum, assemblies, and various activities, we provide opportunities for students to develop an understanding of, and respect for, different cultures, religions, and ways of life. By embedding British values into our ethos, we ensure that our students grow into well-rounded individuals who are prepared to contribute positively to society.
