Welcome to Year 1!
Happy New Year!
We hope you had a great Christmas break and enjoyed spending lots of time with your family and friends!
We have another busy term ahead and lots of exciting things to look forward to!
This term in Geography, we will continue to learn about the North and South Poles and why polar bears can't eat penguins!
Take a look at our curriculum map at the bottom of our class page to see what other things we will be learning too. You will also find lots of photographs of us!
Some important notes:
- Our PE lesson will take place on a Tuesday afternoon. Please ensure your child has their kit in school with each item clearly labelled.
- Please remind your child to bring their reading pack to school everyday. Reading books will be changed on a Monday and Thursday. It is vitally important that you read with your child every day as they must be able to understand and recall each text read. Please remember that the same reading book can be read more than once.
- Homework will be set on a Wednesday to be completed for the following Monday, unless creative homework has been set for the term.
- Spelling tests will take place each Friday.
This year we will be preparing the children for the phonics screening check which will take place the week commencing 10th June. We will have daily phonic lessons and our spelling tests will correspond with the sound focus of each week.
