Sex and Relationships Education
The Governors have agreed that sex education should be part of the school curriculum. It is taught throughout the school as part of the SMSC (Social, Moral, Spiritual, Cultural) programme. In Year 6, when the areas of puberty and human reproduction are discussed, it is taught within the family background of loving relationships. A number of DVD programmes are shown to the children on this subject and these can be viewed by parents before they are introduced to the children. Parents have the right to withdraw their children from all, or part, of the sex education programme, except that which is part of the National Curriculum Science requirement.
